Now let’s go straight to Africa, yes Africa! Specifically to Zambia, to meet our Finance and Teachworks Manager, Callie Morreau. Zambia, located in southern Africa, is a noncoastal country of rugged terrain and diverse wildlife, with many parks and safari areas.

Did I mention she lives with her family in Zambia? Oh yes! 80 degrees all year long but she still misses the leaves, the pumpkins, the boots, and the apples of the fall in Baltimore.

Let’s learn what is Callie’s life calling, which is also the heart behind the company. Find out whose dynamic laugh is her favorite, hint: It has the power to instantly make her day better!

And how having a teacher in the family as your inspiration is a blessing… and Callie had the best.

Ready to dive into this lovely interview? Let’s get started!

  1. What’s your favorite thing about Wright Academics?

My favorite thing about Wright Academics is the heart behind the company.  It is a company that truly believes in helping people. Working to help others is the calling of my life.

  1.   What’s one thing that can instantly make your day better?

Hearing my husband’s loud dynamic laugh can make my day better in an instant. (And it can be heard from quite a distance. 😉 )

  1. How would your 10-year-old self react to what you do now?

My ten-year-old self would be SHOCKED that I am living in Africa, and if she heard that she would picture living in a hut with dirt roads.  As I write this, I am sitting in a cafe in a mall in the city of Lusaka, Zambia.  However, I have always wanted a career in education.  Growing up with my hero, my mom, as a teacher, I always wanted to be just like her.  She spent her career as a teacher in a lower-resourced area.  She implanted in me at a young age to be a person that believes in the power of education and to give to others.

  1. What’s your favorite season and why?

I really love fall…we live in a beautiful place that is mostly 80 degrees all year long.  You can sit outside and eat almost all year long.  However, I miss the leaves, the pumpkins, the boots, and the apples of the fall.  I’ve been lighting my apple cinnamon candle and dreaming of a pumpkin spice latte as I sit sweating in our current summer.  Baltimore in the fall is beautiful and I miss it in the fall more than ever!

  1. What are you passionate about? Favorite hobby?

I am passionate about travel and about reading.  I think both provide opportunities to grow and learn in unique ways.  Reading to my kids and traveling with my family are my favorite things to do together.

Thank you, Callie I couldn’t agree more, travel and reading provide opportunities to grow and learn in unique ways!
