About Us

Evelyn Wright
Owner and Director of Wright Academics
My passion is helping students and families succeed so that they achieve their maximum potential in and out of the classroom. With over 25 years of experience working with children and their families in public and private schools, as well as in private practice, my focus is understanding the individual’s learning profile, guiding families of children with learning differences and matching students to the tutor or coach that best fits the student. I believe in not only matching educational needs to the right tutor’s skills, but matching a student to the tutor with the right personality.

Samantha Dougherty
Director of Special Programs & Executive Function Coach
Samantha Dougherty
Samantha (MA in Early Childhood Education from UMBC) is our Director of Special Programs at Wright Academics. She organizes, plans, and develops our Summer Programs, partnerships, and more! Additionally, she works with all incoming families looking for executive function support by communicating the vision of Wright Academics. She also serves as an Executive Functioning and academics subject coach who has been with us since 2018. Before working with WA, she was a classroom teacher and has been trained in executive skills coaching. She is a well-rounded tutor coaching students in science, math, writing and reading which makes her a valuable asset to the leadership team. Movement and nature are important to weave into her approach as she finds students connect well this way. “I am on a team of really strong and intelligent women and it feels so special to help our community together.” She loves sports and nature, and tries to get outside with her twin boys as much as she can. When she is not working, you might find her instructing at a local cycle studio in Baltimore!

Her favorite parts of being on the leadership team are working closely with the others on the team and communicating with the parents to ensure a positive experience with their child at Wright Academics. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running/working out, and being in nature. You will find her often cheering on her son’s baseball team-Roland Park baseball!

I validate the struggle many students live with day by day, and also understand there is a way for each of us to learn.“ Her favorite part of being on the leadership team is being able to work with the others on the team to ensure each student’s success. When she is not working, she enjoys hiking with her dogs, Harlow and Pepper, biking on trails, seeing live music and theater, and cooking with and for her loved ones.
